About the Instruments

A glance into the past, the antique violin.

I was given this violin in 5th grade from my parents, who found it at a violin repair shop that was going out of business. It is a handmade German violin which is approximately 200 years old. Having been refurbished twice, in 1909 and again in 1980, it produces a tone unequaled by todays machine-made modern instruments. I have been playing this instrument for nearly 30 years now and I consider it priceless.

A look towards the future, the electric violin.

I purchased this violin in 2010 while playing with a group that required me to be amplified through a PA system. This is an ultra-modern violin that retains its traditional violin feel. Since it has 5 strings, this instrument is capable playing music in a lower register that is normally reserved for viola. For outdoor venues, this instrument can produce a true violin tone that can be heard in the back row. The radical “S” shape also makes an impression on an audience.

About the Instruments

CHRIS DOOLEY has been playing violin and piano since the age of 7. As a young adult, he was a member of the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestra and the Kentucky All –State Orchestra in his home state. He continued his music study in college, receiving a Bachelors of Music Education from EKU in 1995. While at college he won the EKU Concerto Competition twice as a sophomore and a senior. He has been playing weddings for 20 years (since high school) and has worked as a Freelance Musician in Lexington and Louisville KY. He has been performing in the Savannah / Hilton Head area since 2007.

“I think that music at a wedding should be your third most important decision after your officiate and a venue. The music can set the tone better than the flowers, the candles or the reception food. Don’t lessen the importance of your special day by depending on recorded music when you can hire a real musician, playing beautiful classical music for all your guests.”

Standing Ovations

Chris’ music as a soloist was beyond beauty. I was proud to walk down the aisle to The Wedding March that Chris performed on violin with strength, excitement and perfection. Not only does Chris have extraordinary talent, he plays from his heart creating a masterpiece that we will always cherish.

I’ve worked with many professional musicians over the years, and Chris, by far is at the top of the list. He is very professional and very talented, always early and always prepared. In all the ceremonies he’s played, I’ve never heard a wrong note, sloppy beginning or ending. He knows how to end a song professionally, beautifully, and with all eyes on the bride, rather than eyes on the musician with people saying “what was that song?”! A musician like Chris is hard to come by. Too many times I’ve heard musicians thumb through sheets of music to find the right song, or have played wrong notes, and I could go on and on. But that’s not the case with Chris. You cannot go wrong in hiring him to play for your ceremony or event.

Chris Dooley is a wonderful musician and expressive artist, both as a solo violinist and accompanist!  He is THE ONE to hire for your beautiful and elegant wedding---A kind, Christian man, who is reliable and talented, I enjoyed performing with him immensely for a mutual good friend's wedding, and would do it again in a heartbeat!  Do not look any further, and don't hesitate for a millisecond---HE is the right choice for your wedding---I can GUARANTEE it! :)

Chris was an absolute pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to ensure that his music was in step, heard by everyone at the venue (which was riverside), and exactly what the couple was imagining. Then, he suited up for the cocktail hour on the piano. What a delight! It was absolutely perfect! And, he was just such a pleasant guy. I'm recommending him for a few more weddings this year!
